What is the healthiest breakfast to eat to lose weight?

Question by I need answers: What is the healthiest breakfast to eat to lose weight?
I’m thinking of eating an oatmeal and a yogurt every morning.

Never been a breakfast person, but going to start.

Can you advise me on a good healthy instant oat meal and a yogurt?

Also, should I use soy milk instead of 1% milk? I heard soy milk has a lot of sugar.

Thank you.

I also have heard good things about the Special K diets, and they have a lot of varieties these days.

Stay away from soy. Cows need jobs, too.

special K is a really good breakfast to help you lose weight they also have protein and snack bars for the rest of the day. i use this myself but lately (because i dont like to eat breakfast and never have) i have been drinking a slim fast shake in the morning. they do wonders especially if you are like me and really just despise the thought of eating anything in the morning! they taste wonderful and they work as a meal replacement and have lots of protein and vitamins with very little calories. this can get kind of expensive though.i myself buy the off brands of everything except for special k. the kroger brand slim fast (slim rite) is just as good.

There is nothing like a “healthiest breakfast”.

It is important to balance your meals. You could go one day with a banana and a tuna sandwich, the next day with an apple and a “low fat” “no extra (fruit) sugar” yogurt.

There is no reason to drink milk at all, even low fat milk has the same amount (or even more) of calories a coca cola has. Drink a Cup of Tea, Coffee, Water or Diet Soda.

BTW: Flakes and any kind of bran should be considered as sweets because of the large amount of carps mainly sugar and starch.

I’ve been having a toasted (low fat) english muffin with 1 egg and 2 slices of turkey bacon in the middle as a sandwich. It’s yummy, low fat, and fills you up!

Ps: you can also substitute the egg with Egg white beaters, which is even more healthy for you, and if you like mayo on it, be sure to use light. and mustard is something you can have as much as you want on it if you like.

    Enjoy! (n_n)

Oatmeal and yoghurt sound pretty good. The only thing i’d reccomend is to try getting a serving of fruit in there.
    - 250mL juice
    - 1/4 cup dried fruit
    - 1/2 cup berries
    - 1 medium fruit

A good instant oatmeal i’d reccomend would be the “kashi” oatmeal brand, or the “quacker reduced sugar, or weight control” instant oatmeal.
Most yoghurts are good. Try to buy one which contains probiotics such as- dan active, activia, etc.. Try lowfat yoghurt.

1% milk you’d be better off with. Personally I hate the taste of soymilk.
    Go with the real stuff!

Hope i’v helped, and best of luck!

Quaker instant oatmeal with 1/3 cup of 1% milk is a start in ‘Break’ ‘Fast’ land. Buy the plain variety, or the one with apples and cinnamon which has only 130 calories plus 50 for the milk and
*** OOPS… forgot to say plus 1 TBsp. of raisins (at 40 cals.) totals 220 calories but is lacking in essential vitamins and minerals. Once you get accustomed to having breakfast, you should ‘branch out’. Oatmeal is ok to have, perhaps, twice a week – isn’t very nutritious. So, the oatmeal and non-fat yoghurt (80) would be 300 cals.

A more nutritious breakfast would be: 1/2 cup cottage cheese (80) with 1/2 cup frozen unsweetened blueberries (50) or 1 cup of sliced fresh strawberries (50) plus a non-fat yoghurt (80) and a small slice of 100% whole-grain wheat toast (60) with 1-1/2 tsp. butter (45). = 315 cals. This has twice the calcium, more fiber and protein plus has the vitamin C which is missing from the oatmeal breakfast.

Once a week, you should ‘live it up’ and have a soft-boiled egg (75) on a slice of whole-wheat toast (60) + butter of course (45), eggs have 7gm of protein, plus 4 oz. orange juice (50) and 4 oz. 1% fat milk (50) = 280 + 1 slice. microwaved bacon!! = a total of 305 and, now, I’m Starving! Variety is the spice of life so you don’t want to have the same thing to eat every morning (esp. if it isn’t super-nutritious).

Four people I know have said they don’t like the plain soy milk, that the vanilla is “ok” and they like the chocolate. For about 5 years, I ate only soy yoghurt, including the chocolate – the fruit ones are 90% better than regular yoghurt but I’m still not a Big Fan of the chocolate (perhaps, next year — he, he).

Hope you adjust to waking up 20 mins. earlier to have breakfast! That’s where I’m headed now as it’s, almost, 8am.
