My boyfriend and I have been dating 3 years, and in the last year and a half, he’s been having… well, problems. There are times that getting an erection is easy for him, but unfortunately, those tend to happen at the most inconvenient times (my roomie is in, etc). The past several times we’ve had (or tried to have) sex, he has either not been able to get up in general, or not able to keep it up while we’ve had sex. And when he has been able to maintain an erection, it has taken him a lot of work to have an orgasm, like he couldn’t get there for some reason.

This is a repetitive problem that has plagued us for months, and it is really affecting our relationship. I’ve asked him if it’s me, if he no longer finds me attractive (I’m overweight, and have body image/self-esteem issues, but that’s another story), and he repetitively denies it, but I’m starting to lose faith. I know he wouldn’t be with me if he didn’t want to, but my fear is that he’s either afraid of hurting my feelings or afraid of what life would be like without a relationship (I know I am).

He’s only 22, and he’s always had a few problems, but they’ve gotten worse. Is it me? What kind of help should he/we get?

The same thing happened to my old GF and I. I had these terrible problems and she was like “don’t worry”, well they went on for quite a long time (months) and then they got drastically worse. SHe really thought it was her, I kind of thought it was her too. The truth didn’t come out until a few months later when she caught me with one of my best friends (another guy). we always joked about stuff like that, but one night, we were drinking and he bet me that I wouldn’t suck his d**k. I was drunk and next thing I knew I was doing it and I liked it! Honey, you should check for little signs that he is gay because all of my gay freinds had similar issues before they came out.
