My husband and I have never had sex in our 12-yr marriage. He can’t. He doesn’t even try anymore (he never really did). We separated for 4 years because of it. People say he must be gay… We got back together a few months ago because I felt divorce is a sin…And sit or get off the pot, ya know. But nothing’s changed. I thought I could deal, but now I don’t know. Sigh…I really don’t want to hurt him. But I’m only 38 and I’d like a normal sex life. I’ve never been in love before, but we’ve been married for about 12 years. I long to be in love though and be with someone who loves me back. I want someone who’s beautiful inside and out. I know no one is perfect. But here’s another thing: my husband is dirty and messy. He doesn’t shower or brush his teeth enough. I look at him and think Ick. He’s very overweight and doesn’t care about his appearance. He smokes, he smells. (Plus, he’s a lot older than me and he’s not aging well).

When we talk about sex (our lack of), he just says, “I can’t. I’m sick.” like he has some chronic illness. OK then so why won’t he go to the doctor to figure it out? He went once but they didn’t find anything. Shouldn’t he get a second opinion? I just feel like he should try MUCH harder and do everything he can to find what’s wrong, not only because it’s hurting our marriage but also if he’s sick mybe he can get treatment.

Why the heck would a husband not try to figure out why he’s impotent?
