I’m very young but I have this horrible intense fear of Death/Dying, what do I do?

Question by Josh: I’m very young but I have this horrible intense fear of Death/Dying, what do I do?
I have this terrible fear of death, almost to the point where its inhibiting me from enjoying my life, I’m always thinking about getting sick somehow or getting old and being close to death. I fear it so much that I avoid anything that I think might make me have a shorter life-span. I’m a total health freak, I don’t eat your average food. I eat as healthy as knowingly possible, I work out a lot, I take all kinds of vitamin/mineral/dietary supplements, I never drink or smoke or do drugs, well except for wine. But I still know that no matter what I do I will most likely get old and die someday and it makes me so depressed. I don’t believe in heaven or any fantastical “after-life” because it just doesn’t seem logical or scientifically possible to me. Its just a fairy-tale to ease peoples’ fears. I’m a college student and a biochemistry major and I only base what I believe on what I can actually see and what can be scientifically proven, I absolutely can’t make myself believe anything else. I honestly don’t think there’s anything after death…I think death is just like when you sleep but you don’t dream, nothing else. Just black nothingness, that’s it. What should I do? Its starting to make me paranoid and depressed. I need advice. I want to live to be the oldest person in the world because I hate the idea of dying more than anything, but I am so afraid that I won’t live that long for whatever reason.
I would love to know that there is a real Afterlife but until I can see some kind real proof of it (not just what someone believes) all of my logic points against it.

It’s a perfectly valid fear. You have a very long life expectancy. Spend some time looking for a psychiatrist who has some experience with your fears. Maybe there’s a teaching hospital near you. Or a free clinic.
Look online there’s probably some information on how to deal with your fears.

It is natural to fear death at your age. Obviously, you haven’t lost a loved one. That is what prepares us for our own mortality. You are not alone, believe me. When you are much much older you will understand. And probably will welcome it. After you’ve led your life you’ll get it. And have faith in God. He will always be there for you. Even if you turn your back on him sometimes.

First of all – get help, professional help, not yahoo help.

Second of all – if you believe so thoroughly in evolution – ask an evolutionist how blood clotting could have come from evolution (spoiler alter: it can’t). Ask these believers in “facts” how the evolution of a brain began (spoiler alert: that phenomenon also cannot be traced via evolution). Evolutionist throw around the work ‘fact’ too often while the theory is just as far from being a proven as creation.

Additionally – if you find the half-monkey half-man creature – alert the media oh yee faithfull to the ‘facts’

Just remember that if it is a black “nothingness” you wont suffer anymore. But this seems to really be affecting your life, which I have to say, I recommend you see a therapist. And unfortunately there is no scientific evidence to an after-life since the dead can’t just come and “speak” to us. I believe you either believe in an after life or not.

    Kid, welcome to reality…

Join the rest of the Human race, smell the roses, have a coffee.

The general populous however ignore they’re insecurities about their life by inventing distractions, like Taxes…Insurance…Work…Football(soccer in your case, i’m guessing, You must really hate Gerrard)

Hey as Iron Maiden once said, ” As soon as your born, your dying…”
    Life’s a bitch, then you marry one….

  7. John says:

mathematically, the number of ghost sightings a year is to high to be statistically all lies or mistakes
therefore, it is highly probable of an afterlife
lets say there has been 1000000 reported ghost sightings in human history, lower than probable
if everyone lied, was crazy, or mistaken, except for 1, the percentage of that chance is extremely small and improbable, but that one is enough to prove the afterlife
i believe in reincarnation, so i used to fear death, but have no more fear anymore

Hey, i once feared death a lot too, the eternalness of it, the nothingness, i too don’t believe in a life after death either, im Atheist, dont belive in God, life after death, nothing superstitios and never will.
What made made me not think about it was just thinking of my dreams, things i really want to do in life, furthermore, the thought that once im dead, i wont feel any anxiety of being dead because ill be dead lol.
Life will move on when were gone, there will still be happiness in the world.

I think that with time, your fear will go away, watch some inspiring movies about life, read some good books, follow your dreams, and soon you will not fear death, and instead feel almost ambivalent about it as i now do.

    Watch these movies,
    Into the Wild
    Creation
    Dead Poets society
    Seven pounds
    Touching the Void
    Crash
    Alive
The Curious case of Benjamin Button

All movies about life and lessons to be learnt.
You should read books on philosiphy and such.
Good luck, im sure you will be fine. :)

To help yourself, you need to know Jesus Christ, God’s Son, and our bridge to God. God is our Creator and God is love. God can help you live a better life and keep you from the fear of death. You can have a personal relationship with God by saying the prayer below. God is all-knowing, all-powerful, eternal, holy, love. God loves us and sent us His Son, Jesus Christ, so we can go to heaven if we know and follow Him. Forever means without end — time on and on without death. Forever is what happens after we die. Either we go to heaven and be with God forever, or we go to hell which is very bad and painful forever. The good people who are saved believers in Jesus Christ go to heaven. The bad people go to hell. We need to know and follow God in this world to get to heaven in the next world. We follow God by loving and obeying Him and loving others for Him. Jesus Christ, God’s Son, is our bridge to God. Jesus died on the cross to cancel our sins. We need to accept Jesus into our life as our Lord and Savior forever to receive God’s blessing and forgiveness plus go to heaven to be with God forever after we die. This is about being a born-again Christian. Faith in God is a gift from God. You can pray for faith in God. Just speak out and ask God for the faith to believe in Him and to follow Him. Some people find faith in God when they realize the beauty in the world is made by God. Evolution can’t explain the world’s natural beauty, for example, the parks in the world, animals, flowers, peacocks, sunsets, butterflies, rainbows, etc. After you have your faith on, you can pray a sinner’s prayer to be a born-again Christian. This prayer is very important and should be said with a sincere heart and faith in God. This is the prayer: “Dear God, I know that I am a sinner and that Jesus Christ is the sacrifice for our sins. I have done the following sins (state these out) and I pray to discontinue these sins. I pray to receive Jesus Christ into my life as my Lord and Savior forever. In Jesus’ name, amen.” I’m Lutheran and I like the Baptist churches too. You could check out a Christian church youth group or Bible study group to learn about God’s will for your life. You can pray to God about your daily life and have a Christian church pray for you.
