All they're doing is encouraging breastfeeding. Which they should - because they're a HOSPITAL and it's healthier for the baby. So you don't get free formula anymore - so what? Buy your own formula if you want it! They can't ban it outright. Some women can't breastfeed for health reasons, and some just can't produce enough for their baby. And when my son had jaundice when he was born, the hospital TOLD me not to breastfeed him for a couple of days. I'm sure they'll still keep some formula around the hospital for special cases like that. After all, you're right. It is the parents' choice how they feed their baby, and giving them formula does not make them a bad parent. But there is nothing in the world wrong with a hospital refusing to encourage something that's not the best possible thing for the baby. They’re not telling women they CAN’T bottle feed.
